Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa says the remains of the former President Edgar Lungu, will arrive tomorrow Wednesday June 18, 2025 at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport(KKIA) at 14:00 hours.
In a statement, Mr Kangwa said a military honour ceremony will be conducted by the defence force in honour of the sith President.
“Members of the public are, therefore advised that attendance during the military honours ceremony is strictly by invitation,” he emphasized.
Mr Kangwa said the public is advised to the live broadcast of the military honours ceremony on a National Television, the Zambian National Broadcasting Cooperation (ZNBC), ZANIS TV, Prime TV, Diamond and other media outlets.
“The body will, therefore, proceed to lie state at the private residence of the late sixth president at Plot No. 56660, Chifwema Road, New Kasama,” he said.
Mr Kangwa further said Belvedere Lodge still remains the official designated venue for the state funeral during the period of National Mourning.
“In order to allow the citizens pay their last respect, the body of the late President will lie in state at Mulungushi International Conference Center from Thursday, 19th to Saturday, 21st June, 2025,” he noted.
He since urged members of the public to continue to mourn the departed Sixth President with dignity and respect.
