THE Zambian duo of International Master (IM) Gillan Bwalya and Fide Master (FM) Chola Musonda won their sixth round matches to move into joint second position at the 2025 Moja Open Chess Extravaganza in South Africa.
The two players, who are competing in the Prestige Section, were among the four players that tied on 4.5 points and were ranked based on their tie breakers going into the last three rounds.
Despite having 4.5 points, the two Zambians were ranked fourth and fifth on inferior tie breaks below South Africa duo of IM Jan Karsten and FM Jack Van Zyl-Ruud, who were in second and third positions respectively.
