UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) deputy secretary general Gertrude Imenda says the ruling party has no sleepless nights over the 2026 general elections because Zambia lacks an organised and competitive opposition that can match or better the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema.
Ms Imenda said with the current segmented opposition in the country, the UPND had no competitive opposition political party that can give it pressure as all opposition parties lack direction.
She said this was why the UPND party was concentrating on working hard to see to it that it addressed issues of poverty and unemployment and brought about national unity, peace and development as opposed to paying attention to opposition armchair critics.
