VICE-PRESIDENT W.K Mutale-Nalumango has called for extensive agriculture use of indigenous seeds that withstand harsh climatic conditions to guarantee food security.
This will help the country tackle insecurities such as malnutrition and chronic illnesses.
Speaking at the World Food Day (WFD) commemorations in Lusaka yesterday, Ms Mutale-Nalumango said Zambia had a lot of indigenous foods which could safely pose as the nation’s food security net, especially now that the nation was faced with a severe drought thereby threatening the country’s food status.
