A 23-year-old University of Zambia (UNZA) third-year Geology student, who passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Mumbwa Hospital on the day he was supposed to celebrate his birthday, has been put to rest.
Tinashe Ngulube, who was diagnosed with a chronic headache, was laid to rest on Wednesday, June 4, at Mumbwa High School Graveyard in Central Province.
UNZA Dean of Students, John Munkombwe, says the late Mr Ngulube has left a void that cannot be filled at the institution.
In a speech read on his behalf by UNZA Records Officer, Valerie Ngulube, during the funeral service at the Bible Church in Africa in Mumbwa District, Central Province, Mr Munkombwe said the University acknowledges the impact of Mr Ngulube.
Mr Munkombwe described the deceased as a bright and ambitious individual with a future full of promise and potential, saying Mr Ngulube would have contributed immensely to the development of the country.
“Losing him as a student is a great loss not only to the University of Zambia but also to the nation. Mr Ngulube, please know that you are not alone in your grief. Our school community mourns with you,” he stated.
In paying tribute, Kudakwashe Ngulube said his twin brother, Tinashe, was more than just a twin, but also his mentor, best friend, and partner in every sense of the word.
“You had a way of understanding me completely, and I cherished the bond we shared. Your presence in my life was a constant source of comfort, strength, and inspiration,” Kudakwashe said.
“I’ll never forget the day I boarded a flight to Morocco to pursue my studies. You cried, and I could see the worry in your eyes. You were concerned about me being so far away, and I reassured you that I would be fine. Little did I know that our time apart would be cut short.”
