UNZA new directional posters vandalised

Some of the recently installed directional posters at the University of Zambia (UNZA), School of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) premises have been vandalized by unknown individuals.

In a statement on Monday, the School Association (UNZAHSSA) Information and Publicity Secretary, Elias Kunda expressed concern over the vandalism of the new directional posters.

Mr. Kunda described the vandalism as disappointing, stating that the act goes against efforts to make the university more accessible and organised.

“We strongly urge all students and members of the university community to refrain from tampering with or destroying any university property,” Mr. Kunda said.

He cautioned that students or anyone found responsible for the actions will face appropriate disciplinary measures and penalties.

UNZA third-year Economics student, Mary Mubanga noted that many students do not understand the purpose of the directional posters, which could be the reason they are often damaged.

However, Ms. Mubanga advised the university to run awareness programs, as this would help students understand the importance of the posters.

Another student, Jonathan Mweetwa, attributed the vandalism to the large number of students on campus, stressing that this makes it difficult to control and monitor such behavior.
