PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema is tomorrow expected to commission the 100-megawatt Chisamba Solar Plant in Central Province, marking a major milestone in Zambia’s renewable energy drive.
Energy Minister Makozo Chikote confirmed the development in a statement to the Sunday Times yesterday, describing it as a significant step toward a cleaner, more reliable and diversified national energy mix.
Mr Chikote said the commissioning of the Chisamba plant was a strong demonstration of Government’s commitment to expanding renewable energy and ensuring long-term energy security for the nation.
