It’s a bumper harvest!

ZAMBIA will this year record a bumper maize harvest of 3.7 million tonnes, providing certainty for a further reduction in staple food prices and a possible resumption of exports.
Making the announcement, acting Agriculture Minister Sylvia Masebo said the projected harvest indicated that the country had produced sufficient maize for both human consumption and industrial use, pushing up maize supply to more than four million tonnes and that with a national requirement of 3.5 million tonnes, meaning a surplus of 501,621 tonne.
