THREE former Constitutional Court (ConCourt) judges have sought leave of the court to challenge President Hakainde Hichilema’s decision to remove them from office.
Judges Anna Sitali, Mungeni Mulenga and Palan Mulonda wanted the Lusaka High Court to grant them an order to quash the decision of Judicial Complaints Commission (JCC) made to the President on September 23, 2024 to remove them from office.
The judges have argued that the JCC had no jurisdiction to reopen and hear a complaint by Moses Kalonde relating to the handling of the Presidential election petition, when the issues raised in the said complaint were heard and concluded by the commission in 2017.
