HUMAN rights defender Ngande Mwanajiti says the Presidential Immunity clause should be removed from the Constitution as it is not serving any purpose.
Mr Mwanajiti said discarding the Presidential Immunity provision should be done as Zambia sought to amend the Constitution to address the identified gaps.
Mr Mwanajiti said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that the Presidential Immunity had been a source of challenges and that Zambia had been engulfed in long debates around the same issue from as far as 2001, which was not healthy.
