IN a dramatic incident, 41 inmates, who include suspected murderers, robbers and defilers, held at Nakonde Police Station cells have escaped from lawful custody. The suspects staged the brazen escape after ambushing and overpowering an officer on duty.
However, police have since captured seven of the runaway suspects.
The unsuspecting officer, carrying a routine meal of nshima for the inmates, swung open the male cell doors.
