The Football Association of Zambia president has congratulated the U – 17 Women’s national team for their third COSAFA victory.

In a press statement, Keith Mweemba hailed the Copper Princesses for honoring him with his first trophy since assuming office last week.

“Congratulations to the team, technical bench and support staff for earning Zambia a record third Cosafa title at U – 17 women’s level. We are very proud of you,” he said.

He went on to advise the girls to focus on the fourthcoming assignments, particularly the FIFA World Cup.

He noted that “this should inspire the team to aspire for even greater things, especially at the World Cup.”

The association announced that Zambia has already secured its ticket to the World Cup which will take place in Morocco from 17 October to 8 November, 2025.

Zambia beat Malawi 3 – 0 in the final played at the Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek, Namibia to earn back-to-back titles.

This will be Zambia’s third appearance in the FIFA World Cup after the 2014 and 2024 editions.

Record Zambian Cosafa winners were champions in 2021 and 2024, and runners-up in 2020 and 2022.
