Haimbe champions resilience for poor nations

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mulambo Haimbe has called for Innovative Financing And Strategic Partnerships to support least developed countrie.

Mr Haimbe, said strategic partnerships among Least Developed Countries (LDCs), development partners, and the private sector are essential to closing persistent gaps in infrastructure, innovation, green financing, and technology.

He was speaking during a High-Level Meeting on LDCs at the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4) in Seville, Spain, yesterday.

Mr. Haimbe emphasised the critical need for innovative financing mechanisms to support the development of LDCs, particularly to address infrastructure deficits and reduce capital costs.

He stressed the urgent need for robust partnerships to build resilience, as external vulnerabilities continue to impact poor countries.

Mr Haimbe noted that the Sevilla Commitment present a positive starting point, offering a framework with strong complementarities to support the implementation of the Doha Programme of Action for LDCs.

He reaffirmed Zambia’s commitment to advancing sustainable development, even while navigating structural and systemic challenges.

He also emphasized Zambia’s openness to mutually beneficial partnerships in economic resilience, human and social development, and environmental sustainability, all underpinned by good governance.
