THE Government has engaged 41 commercial farmers on contract farming to grow grain to mitigate the anticipated low harvest because of the erratic rains in some parts of the country this season, Information and Media Minister Cornelius Mweetwa has said.
Mr Mweetwa said 41 out of the 57 farmers that had expressed interest, had been engaged through the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) and would grow early-maturing maize with an expected yield of 145,000 tonnes by March, 2024.
